I, am an organized mess. I am totally organized to myself, I know just where everything is, but when others start looking for things- forget about it. School started back up for my children a few days ago, and I knew that I needed to do something about getting my pantries organized. I had visions of being ill, not able to make my children lunches, while my husband ran around in circles pulling his hair out trying to find things to make the kids lunches. It was not a pretty vision, so I started Mission- back to school organization!
As you can clearly see, the “kids” pantry was a massive hot-mess. Desserts were mixed with acceptable school snacks and all I could imagine was the kids going to school with lunch boxes packed with cookies and fruit snacks. I gutted the entire pantry out, bought little storage containers at the grocery store, and took all the foods out of their respective boxes and sorted them into the containers. I then stacked the containers by their purpose- “Desserts”, “School Snacks”, and “Home Snacks”.
If I had half a brain, I would have taken an “after picture” but I was in the heat of organization- I totally forgot the after picture! The end result was a picture of utter organization, and the best part is- I made the pantry Dad-Friendly. My husband will have no fear in packing school lunches if I ever become incapacitated, for everything is clearly labeled!
I also organized my fridge too. I know, I can be a bit compulsive at times but I didn’t go so far as to buy storage containers for every thing in my fridge. I have however, become a little bit more of an organization wizard during this whole mission. And when it’s time to get the lunches going………….
I am please to announce that it only takes me 5 minutes! That’s 2.5 minutes per child- awesome!
How did you get organized for your kids going back to school?
